‘Red Thread’ is an interactive exhibition of work, installed and facilitated by Magan-djin based artist and educator Jade Shanley. The body of work focuses on relationships, exploring interactions between grief, fear, and love and how they shape the way we interact.

Alongside the exhibited works, Jade will be facilitating small group workshops inviting participants into conversations. Grief, fear, and love are universal experiences that become points of connection and learning. For many, these conversations are hard to navigate, often because they have been socially and culturally absent. And so, learning a tactile, embodied practice, allows for nuanced, emergent conversations to form when words are difficult to find.

Participants will work in collaboration with Jade to create sculptures that capture these conversations and reflect their transformative nature. Left unfired, the work will be ephemeral and exhibited collectively at the closing event on 16 November. Finally, the clay sculptures will be returned to their original, raw state to be renewed into new life at a later date.
