Event description

Busy Bee at Redgate Beach

Friday, 20 June 2025 | 9:00 am – 1pm
Location: Redgate Beach – Cape to Cape Track

Event Details

Join us for a hands-on morning of brushing, planting, bush clean-up and coir log placement to help restore and protect a section of the Cape to Cape Track at Redgate Beach. This is a collaborative conservation effort between Nature Conservation Margaret RiverDBCA and Friends of the Cape to Cape Track and we’d love your help!

We'll be working just beyond the south end of Redgate Beach, where the new steps lead up to the junction with the old 4WD track, which is soon to be closed to vehicles. The aim is to stabilise the area and prevent erosion while restoring native habitat.

Activities include:
  • Brushing and planting along the upper track beside granite steps

  • Laying coir logs to stop erosion above and below the new steps

  • Track narrowing and restoration to direct foot traffic

  • Cutting dead Melaleuca for use on-site (chainsaw ticket holders welcome)

  • Use of a power auger  to dig and prepare planting holes

Project Manager Jason Mant (DBCA) will coordinating materials and site work. Do you have a current chainsaw licence? If you’re keen to assist with brush cutting, please contact Jason at jason.mant@dbca.wa.gov.au
