Reds, Revolutionaries & Real Ale.

You’re planning a revolution to take over the world’s biggest country and set up a communist empire stretching across a continent. Where better to sort out the bits and pieces than the lodging houses and pubs of Edwardian Islington? 

Enter Lenin and his comrades, April 1902, spurred on by how Thomas Paine started writing The Rights of Man in the Angel Islington hostelry. 

Ed Glinert, author of Penguin’s London Compendium and tour guide with New London Walks, raises a glass to stories of radicals, reformers, rebels and even reactionaries on this politically correct tour, “Reds, Revolutionaries and Real Ale”.

Meeting point: outside Angel tube.

There will be a 15 minute pub stop early in the walk, entirely in context. The whole walk should last about two hours.
