Event description

Are you interested to volunteer with Reef Watch SA for future Reef Rambles across Greater Adelaide?

Join us for one of two upcoming Reef Watch SA Volunteer Training Days!

Each training session will include:

- an “Introduction to Rocky Seashores” PowerPoint presentation, teaching you some basic rocky seashore terminology and species identification. 

- short skill-building course on using iNaturalist including account set up, how to join a project and, how to upload species observations into the platform.
- a Reef Ramble at Kingston Park teaching you how to monitor intertidal assemblages using line-intercept transects, quadrats, and timed search surveys.

Upon completion of the training session and completion of our volunteer forms, you will be ready to Volunteer with us on future Reef Rambles happening across Greater Adelaide annually.

Training session duration: total120 minutes. 

Meet: 12pm at the Seacliff Surf Life Saving Club

    Please bring:

    • Notebook and pen
    • Sunscreen & hat!
    • A full water bottle
    • Snacks
    • Appropriate footwear (enclosed shoes) and clothing (we recommend long sleeves).

    *** IMPORTANT ***

    • You must be over 18 years of age to participate in the Training Days. For more information, please email reefwatch@conservationsa.org.au
    • Please arrive on time.
    • Please be sun-safe.
    • Please wear enclosed footwear (e.g. sneakers, walking shoes, reef shoes, dive/snorkel boots).
    • Accessibility: there are stairs between the reef and carpark. The reef surface is uneven so please be mindful of trips and slips. This area is not accessible for walkers or wheelchairs.
    • No swimming or snorkeling required - water is less than ankle deep.

    This event will be postponed in the event that:

    • Weather is above 36 degrees Celsius. 
    • Moderate-heavy rain is forecast.
