ReelAbilities Screening: Color Book

Event Details

Join Art Possible Ohio and Urban Arts Space for the February screening of Color Book at the ReelAbilities Film Festival Columbus.  Stop by before the film for “Finding Color in a Black and White World,” an art making activity with artist Bryan Moss.  The film, a black and white portrayal of a recently single father trying to navigate raising a son with Down Syndrome.   

Doors open at 5:45 PM, art making activity begins at 6:00 PM. Light snacks and beverages will be available during the activity. The film will begin at 6:30 PM.

Urban Arts Space’s downtown gallery is located at 50 W Town Street, Suite 130, in the Lazarus building, and you can view a parking map here. UAS also has a short video about how to get there on Instagram. There’s street parking on Rich, Wall, Town, and Front Street near the gallery, but parking is also available at several garages:

Riffe Center Parking Garage (Enter from Front Street)

Columbus Commons Parking Garage (Always has ample parking on the upper floors)

Ohio Statehouse Parking Garage (Enter from westbound Broad Street or Third Street—we recommend this garage when accessibility is a concern)

Film Description:

Lucky and his 11-year-old son Mason, who has Down syndrome, navigate an eventful trip across Metro Atlanta to attend their first baseball game together. As transit mishaps and unexpected delays disrupt their plans, father and son discover new ways to connect and communicate, revealing how detours can make shared destinations more meaningful.

Finding Color in a Black and White World with Bryan Moss:

Using a variety of mediums including collage, drawing, painting and more, we’ll be creating multi-media pieces that integrate and reflect the themes and ideas of the film. All pieces will be created on a postcard and materials will be provided during the event. No matter your skill set or skill level, we invite you to explore the film through images, language, and art. Light snacks and beverages will be available during the activity.

About Bryan Moss:

Bryan Christopher Moss is a painter, muralist, illustrator, educator, and creative director who grew up in Columbus, Ohio where he has worked as a professional artist for the past 20 years. As a self-taught artist, he focuses on creating impact and camaraderie within the arts community. A Grammy nominated artist, his clients include Rema, Marvel Comics, Sprite, Coca-Cola, and White Castle. His first graphic novel, The Eightfold Path, which was written by Steve Barnes and Charles Johnson, was published by the Megascope imprint at AbramsComicArts.
