Please take time to read all the information provided on the effects of breathwork, your responsibility of participation, and think about your intentions of the session before signing your consent.

Information to read:

Breathwork, or conscious breathing, can have profound and, at times, life changing impacts. We can spend years, even decades, of our life in fight, flight or freeze, and spending an hour altering our breathing can have dramatic effects on our nervous system.

Faster and rhythmic breathing, hyperventilation, activates our stress response and, while we want to avoiding chronically hyperventilating, in the short term it can release stored stress, tension and sometimes trauma.

This can potentially feel overwhelming, so I want you to fully understand that you will always be in control of your breath.

My sessions are trauma-informed and are rooted in gentle nervous system support.

The structure will always consist of guided somatic movement, functional breathing connecting with diaphragm, rhythmic breathing to release tension, breath retention to build CO2, slow breathing, meditation and sound healing

We interrupt the Default Mode Network when breathing in a rhythmic way, allowing the mind to let go means emotions may surface.
It is important to gently integrate anything that comes up mentally, physically and spiritually in the weeks following.

Some effects that may come up:

- Tetany - tingling, 'pins and needles', in hands, feet, face

- Coldness

- Lightheadedness / dizziness

- Muscle cramping / spasming

- Temporary Altered State of Consciousness / lucid feeling

- Shift in emotional state / emotional release - crying, laughing, etc.

- Improved mental clarity, focus and energy

- Euphoria, increased serotonin, gratitude

- Presence and mindfulness

- Reflection and introspection

- Deep rest and healing

While guided movement and breathwork sessions are generally safe and can offer positive and transformative benefits, participation does involve some inherent risk of injury.

Although the likelihood of injury is low, potential risks may include physical discomfort, emotional release, or psychological distress. The facilitator is fully trained and trauma-aware; however, through agreeing to this you acknowledge that you are responsible for your own wellbeing throughout the session.

You are encouraged to listen to your body at all times and to modify or discontinue any activity that does not feel safe or appropriate for you. Participation in all aspects of the session is voluntary.

No advice and activity presented, demonstrated or advised in the session are in any way intended as a substitute for medical intervention or to interfere with guidance from a medical professional.
