Event description

To compliment the launch of the community exhibition Reflections on a River Red Gum local weaver Debbie Wood invites you to collaborate with her and learn how to weave a sculptural tree making leaves from raffia, and weaving into it gum nuts and other objects from nature.

This free workshop coincides with the exhibition launch at 10.30am.  The workshop finishes at 1.30pm.

The community workshop is suitable for all adults including young people aged 12+.  No previous weaving experience is necessary.

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

The river red gum is an iconic tree species of the Australian landscape.

For anyone who has grown up along our inland rivers, this majestic tree has provided the backdrop for a myriad of memories. We have climbed its branches, collected its leaves and gumnuts, and played and rested in its shade.

This stunning exhibition has been created by local artists, makers and writers as their creative response to this important cultural species. It’s their love letter to a river red gum.

Light refreshments will be provided for this exhibition launch and FREE weaving workshop.
