Description

Join the Mexican Cultural Institute, in partnership with Shakespeare Theatre Company, for a special symposium exploring the life, identity, and artistic legacy of Frida Kahlo.

Minister Marta Turok, our Executive Director, will present Mirrors of the Soul: Cataloguing Frida’s Wardrobe, a visual exploration of Frida’s eclectic clothing, personal style, and the evolution of her identity. The presentation will be followed by a conversation and Q&A moderated by Drew Lichtenberg, Artistic Producer of Shakespeare Theatre Company.

Inspired by the questions raised in STC’s production Frida...A Self Portrait by Vanessa Severo, this program invites us to reflect on how Frida’s self-presentation shaped her identity and blurred the boundaries between life and art.

Date: Thursday, November 5, 2026
Time: 10:30 AM–12:00 PM
Location: Mexican Cultural Institute, 2829 16th Street NW, Washington, DC
