Refugee Alternatives Webinar March 2022
Event description
Following on from the five years of successful and engaging annual Refugee Alternatives conferences, the Refugee Council of Australia (RCOA) will now host free regular webinars exploring important issues in refugee policy and practice.
We will kick off our first webinar of the series with an exploration of global refugee protection needs in 2022, including a deep dive on mass displacement in Africa (including Ethiopia, DRC, and Sudan), Afghanistan, and Myanmar. Experts with lived experience will explore the situation for people on the ground, we will share expert analysis of the international diplomacy underway, and we will explore both the connections to Australia and what Australia can do in relation to these conflicts and the mass displacement.
The webinar will give participants the latest information on what is happening around the world and also empower them to take action to help people facing forced displacement in our region and beyond.
The webinar will me moderated by RCOA's President Jasmina Bajraktarevic-Hayward and include expert speakers - former Australian Human Rights Commissioner Chris Sidoti, Rohingya refugee activist and Chair of the Asia-Pacific Refugee Rights Network Hafsar Tameesuddin, and RCOA Special Advisor Ahmad Shuja Jamal and Deputy CEO Adama Kamara.
