Refugee Week Screenings - My Rembetika Blues and Night Becomes Day
Event description
Join us for a compelling screening of My Rembetika Blues, a film about love, life and Greek music!
Filmmaker M.Zournazi traces the journey of her forebears from Turkey to Australia but discovers more than family history, she finds out how music connects people during times of struggle and crisis. Through its rawness and unique style, Rembetika music provides a musical account of migrant experience and the Greek blues.
Prior to My Rembetika Blues, there will be a screening of a short 8-minute documentary, Night Becomes Day, about a teenager navigating life in a refugee camp in Greece. The screening will be followed by a Q&A session hosted by filmmaker and director, Daniel Bury.
Get ready to be taken on an odyssey into the heart and soul of exile and human experience.
