The Great Remembering is a three day (two nights) intensive relational retreat set on the Darug Land of the Mulgoa people, for BIPOGM (Black, Indigenous and People of the Global Majority) to actively engage in reclaiming and remembering their cultural identities, traditions and ways of being.

This event is trauma-informed and has been developed by a group of First Nations, Indigenous and Black activists and community leaders from 'Australia' and Turtle Island.

About the facilitators

Piteeri Michail is a mother, daughter, sister, aunty, niece, cousin, partner, friend, and common Remenkeemi woman (of the Black soil). Her fathers’ family are from Luxor, in the south of Ⲭⲏⲙⲓ (Keemi, the land of the Black soil = Egypt), and her mothers’ family are from Ireland, Germany, and Britain.

Neesamaun West is Piteeri’s daughter and has grown up on Dharawal land. She works with children at an Indigenous pre-school and is enjoying exploring her own Indigenous heritage, including learning the MetRemenKeemi language.
