Regenerating Our Places: Nature-Based and Collaborative Approaches Sydney - Citizen COP 2026
Description
Regeneration in Place: Working with Nature, Culture and Community
How can regenerative approaches grow from the particular places we inhabit?
From waterways and foreshores to Country and communities, this conversation explores how nature-based, collaborative and regenerative approaches are responding to climate change, biodiversity loss and environmental degradation.
Bringing together diverse perspectives, we’ll explore how working with ecology, culture, community knowledge and the unique qualities of place can restore living systems, strengthen relationships and create more resilient, flourishing places.
What can we learn from initiatives already taking root? How might paying closer attention to ecology, community knowledge and place open up new possibilities for regeneration?
Following a panel conversation with three practitioners, we’ll move into a participatory workshop to explore what these ideas could mean for the places we know, love and care for.
Organisers
Vivien Sung — Facilitator, Regenerative Practitioner and Visual Storyteller

About Citizen COP Australia
Citizen COP Australia is a decentralised, people-powered movement running alongside the global COPs in 2026. Enabled by People For Nature, but intentionally independent and distributed, Citizen COP invites communities, organisations, schools, businesses, artists, and local groups across Australia to host their own events during the COP period. Rather than a single central event, Citizen COP is a nationwide network of conversations, workshops, and actions that bring global climate and nature discussions into local communities. It connects people to science, solutions, and each other, strengthening civic engagement and ensuring citizen voices contribute to Australia’s climate and nature conversations.
