Regenerating Soils: Biology, Transition & Nutrient Efficiency

Join us for a hands-on workshop with international soil expert Joel Williams, exploring practical and science-based strategies to improve soil health, boost productivity, and build a more regenerative farming system.

Topics include:

• Soil biology and soil organic matter science: Understand the processes that support healthy, productive soils.

• Soils in transition: Strategies to transition towards regenerative agriculture, and better soil health.

• Integrated nutrient management: Low input strategies to improve fertiliser efficiencies and reduce input costs.

• Soil Wealth ICP demonstration site field walk at Mulgowie: Managing organic nitrogen sources from cover crops to match the nitrogen demand of sweet corn.

Who this is for: This workshop is limited to 30 spots for vegetable growers and agronomists – registration is essential and growers and agronomists will be prioritised over those in the supply chain.

Bring Soil Samples & Tests: If you’re interested, bring a sample of your soil so we can discuss structure and practical ways to look for life in your soil.

Meet the presenters:

Joel Williams, Plant and Soil Health Educator, Integrated Soils

Joel Williams is an international soil specialist with a particular interest in designing farming systems that focus on managing soil biology along with crop & soil nutrition to optimise plant immunity and soil function. He has extensive practical experience in Australia, UK, and Canada, and is passionate in teaching and sharing both scientific and practical knowledge on agroecological growing practices.

Stephanie Tabone, Research Scientist, Applied Horticultural Research

Stephanie is a passionate, dedicated and hard-working research scientist helping the agriculture industry find and implement solutions to the challenges faced through crop production and the supply chain. Through the Nuffield Scholarship in 2024, she studied the effective use of legumes to supply nitrogen to vegetable crops and travelled across the globe to gain insights from growers and researchers.
