Regional VIC: Reimagining Disability Employment and Volunteering

Leisure Networks, Regional Sport Victoria and Disability Sports Australia is hosting a forum in partnership with Victoria University. A Building Inclusive Sport Clubs initiative, this in-person forum will bring together leaders with disabilities to discuss how the Australian sport sector can reimagine disability employment and volunteering.
The understanding of accessibility and inclusion in sport is growing. There is a lack of understanding within the sector of how to practically employ and volunteer people with disabilities their organisations. Australian sport is in an exciting position to improve its environment for people with disabilities to thrive in sport.
At the forum, we'll discuss:
- Creating welcoming environments.
- Reimagining opportunities and pathways for people with disability to be employed and volunteer in sports.
- Recruitment and retention strategies for people with disability.
- Sharing available resources that can increase organisations capacity and knowledge.
Leaders with disabilities from grassroots to elite level sport will share their lived experiences and best practices for engaging people with disabilities.
