Event description

The Regional Australia Institute (RAI) was proud to present the first Regions Rising in-person event for 2022 in Bendigo, Victoria on Wednesday 30 March. This was part of our National Event Series and we are so thrilled to be back on the road!

Regions Rising presents the RAI’s evidence-backed research to support the development and investment into regional Australia.

In Bendigo, RAI CEO Liz Ritchie joined Minister for Regional Development, the Hon. Mary-Anne Thomas at the launch of the RAI’s Housing Discussion Paper – Building the Good Life. This latest piece of RAI research addresses the current housing pressures being felt across parts of regional Australia and aims to bring about action to restore balance in supply.

Regional Australia continues to experience a surge of popularity. City-dwellers are moving to the regions and regional people are choosing to stay. Regional Australia offers the Good Life where community is strong, jobs are plentiful and housing – while currently under pressure – is still much more affordable and accessible than in the major capitals.

Regional housing is one of the areas discussed in the RAI’s Regionalisation Discussion Paper, which will be unveiled publicly in Bendigo. Don’t miss this opportunity to be part of a national moment to create a more equitable, balanced, sustainable and prosperous future for all Australia.

Regional Australia is experiencing a renaissance. Take your place at the table in Bendigo and be part of this historic moment.

This was a hybrid event with in-person and online tickets. The recording is available until 27 April 2022.
