Learn how to manage water and successfully implement a Landscape Rehydration project on your property

In this FREE one-day workshop hosted by Gresford District Landcare, at the property of Robyn & Dave Hyde, participants gain a foundational understanding of a farm’s water cycle and our approaches to rehydrating rural landscapes. Participants learn to identify the influence of a farm’s geological and hydrological features and diagnose the health of a landscape. The workshop explores a range of strategies – including natural structures – which can optimise a farm’s water cycle and improve landscape function.

The workshop will introduce you to a range of landscape rehydration strategies and tactics.

The Presenters

Sam Skeat has significant experience in landscape processes and how to use rehydration design to rebuild degraded areas into functional productive landscapes. He has spent 15 years in the grazing and natural resource management (NRM) industries, and combines rehydration practices and regenerative grazing to deliver both ecological and productive returns. Sam’s broader skills include: grazing management, understanding landscape function, reading the landscape, practical design, understanding and balancing the returns for ecology and agriculture in regenerative agriculture and landscape rehydration, extension and education with landholders. Sam is based in north Queensland where he also runs a family grazing business.

Tony Wells has over 20 years’ experience as an agricultural scientist with a focus on environmental soil and water issues such as erosion and nutrient loss. He has worked in the cotton industry with CSIRO and in intensive horticulture with NSW DPI. Tony has also managed native biodiversity projects with an NRM organisation, and taught horticulture and soils subjects in TAFE and youth support organisations. In Mulloon he is an advocate for soil health and for a whole-systems approach to land and farm management.

Mulloon staff work with farmers and other stakeholders on catchment scale rehydration and restoration projects across the country that promise to restore both ecological and agricultural function to degraded landscapes.
