Description

What makes the difference with those clients who are hardest to reach?

More often than not it's not the tool that you use, but the quality of your presence.

This series helps you develop exactly that, through easy to learn, practical embodiment tools.

As a result you will feel more resourced in your work, so that you are better able to work with challenging clients.

It can also help you to take your work to a deeper level. Each session is one step on that journey.

Session 5: Following The Power of Relational Presence

Research shows that the decisive factor for success in coaching and therapy is not the tools you bring. It is the human factor. How present you are with your client impacts your work more than anything else. But what is actually happening in the space between you and another person?

This session explores exactly that and the relational field that exists between you and others. We will draw on Circling Practices to help you discover a quality of connection that is rare in daily life. You can learn to bring this quality into your work with clients.

No prior experience needed — this session is complete in itself.

Led by Ruth Friedman, this two-hour workshop creates a warm, safe, and empowering learning environment. You will have space to connect with others in the room and practise what you learn immediately.

About this session

Circling as a practice has been around for about 30 years and yet most people have never heard of it. It is a kind of relational meditation, rooted in mindfulness, integral theory, and conflict resolution. It offers a structured way to explore what arises between yourself and others.

Through Circling Practices you can feel truly seen and accepted for who you are. It can also bring you new insights about yourself and how you relate to others.

In working with clients, you may sometimes feel you have to put yourself to aside in order to be there for them. The truth is you don't. In this session we will explore how you can bring yourself, however you are in the moment, in service of your clients.

The 2-hour session blends short presentations, guided experiential exercises and partner work. You will leave with practices you can use straight away. All levels of experience are welcome.

What you will learn

What Circling as a Practice is, and how it can support you

  • To explore your  experience of being with another person in a structured safe way

  • How to receive this quality of attention from another person

  • How to show up more fully as yourself however you are that day in service of your client

  • How you can use this practice in service of your clients.

Who is this for?

This session is designed for anyone whose work centres around holding space for others. This includes: coaches, therapists, counsellors, mentors, meditation teachers, facilitators, and group leaders.

You will particularly benefit if you want to:

  • Enhance your presence and listening skills for deeper impact.

  • Integrate embodied techniques into your work with groups and clients.

  • Go beyond traditional approaches to coaching and facilitation.

  • Learn to work in a more authentic and embodied way.

If you don't fit this description exactly but feel curious — you are warmly welcome. These skills benefit a wide range of people and professions.
