How might we understand transformation when we realise change as a relational rather than linear?

Karina Kallio explores what becomes possible when we stop approaching change as something to design for people and systems, and begin learning how to participate within the living systems we are already part of.

In this intimate conversation, we'll explore the movement from mechanistic and extractive ways of thinking toward more relational, ecological and regenerative ways of being and becoming. Rather than regeneration as another sustainability framework or set of tools, Karina approaches it as an ongoing practice of becoming attentive to self, relationships, place, patterns and the conditions through which life can emerge and flourish.

Drawing from her research into regenerative paradigms, her work with Regen Sydney, and years spent across fashion, education, community practice and systems change, Karina's work asks how shifts in worldview might change not only what we do, but how we see, relate, organise and act together.

About Karina

Regenerative systems researcher, educator and practitioner

Dr Karina Kallio is a researcher, educator, strategist and community practitioner working at the intersections of regenerative development, systems change, culture and collective practice.

Her doctoral research explored the transition from mechanistic and human-centred paradigms toward ecological and living-systems worldviews, asking what these shifts might mean for how organisations, industries and communities understand and participate in change.

Karina's practice moves between research and living experimentation. Through her work with Regen Sydney, she helps convene spaces where people can deepen their relationship with place, encounter different ways of knowing, learn across differences and build the relational capacities needed for collective action. Her work as an educator similarly invites people to examine the worldviews beneath familiar systems and to imagine different ways of organising, leading and creating.

Rather than approaching regeneration as a fixed methodology, Karina is interested in it as a practice of relationship and participation, of being and becoming: learning to notice patterns, work with complexity, listen for what is emerging, and create conditions in which different possibilities can take root.
