Are you looking to improve the thermal comfort, health and energy efficiency of your home? 

At this workshop, local experts PowerHaus Engineering will walk you through various options, from minor retrofits to major renovations, to help you understand available solutions for upgrading your home. Improving the energy efficiency of your house is one of the best ways to not only save on your energy bills, but also to make your house more comfortable and healthy. 

Starting a new build or making choices about renovations can be overwhelming. This workshop will include a presentation from the team at PowerHaus to explain what options you should consider first when looking to make home improvements, to get you the most bang for buck and ensure you’re creating a healthy home. 

  • Should you start with putting in insulation, or are double-glazed windows more important? 

  • Are there ways to maximise natural sunlight as a heating source? 

  • There are also important health and long-term maintenance factors to consider – for example, how do you balance insulation and sealing off air gaps for thermal comfort with the need to maintain air flow and prevent the build up of mould? 

After a short break for morning tea and mingling (where you will have a chance to chat to the Powerhaus team and share stories and solutions with others), we’ll take our learnings and apply them ‘hands-on’. We’ll do a walk-through of a local building, to identify what improvements could be made and consider what priority they should have. The team will also demonstrate the use of the new app created by PowerHaus to help you make design choices.

This is the third event in a series of free workshops related to energy bill savings, renewable energy and sustainability which we'll be running regularly until mid 2026, supported by the Bega Valley Shire Council Community Grants program.
