Event description

This report presents the findings of the First Nations Digital Inclusion in Western Sydney study, which explores the digital experiences of Indigenous peoples in one of Australia’s most diverse and rapidly growing regions.

Keynote speech by The Hon. Linda Burney, Wiradjuri woman and former Minister for Indigenous Australians.

Report co-authors, Professor Azadeh Dastyari and Professor Corrinne Sullivan, will present the report findings which will be discussed by an expert panel.

The study aims to strengthen digital inclusion through Indigenous co-designed recommendations.

Drawing on yarning circles, storytelling interviews, and a survey, the report, guided by an Indigenous governance committee highlights the role of technology, connectivity, and digital skills in supporting community, culture, and access to opportunities. It offers Indigenous led solutions to combating digital exclusion grounded in lived experience, community leadership, and self-determination.
