What is the Reportable Conduct Scheme?

The Ombudsman WA manages the WA Reportable Conduct Scheme – the legislated scheme which requires organisations to notify the Ombudsman of allegations of child abuse by their employees and to investigate them. The Ombudsman oversees these investigations.  The Reportable Conduct Scheme was introduced in response to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Abuse. The Scheme's purpose is to make WA children safer.

What will I learn?

This event will give a brief overview of the Scheme, followed by an interactive workshop about investigation requirements. You will learn about:

  • types of reportable conduct

  • assessing allegations and managing risks

  • planning your investigation

  • gathering and analysing evidence

  • what must be included in an investigation report to the Ombudsman

  • what happens after an investigation

Who:  This workshop is for leaders, managers and staff who are responsible for investigating allegations of reportable conduct by employees and volunteers in the early learning sector.

Where:  The workshop venue (Ground Floor, 469 Wellington Street, PERTH) is conveniently located opposite Perth Train Station. Various paid parking options are also available nearby.

Queries: Please contact Lucy on email reportableconduct@ombudsman.wa.gov.au or phone 9220 7471.
