Event description

This is our rescheduled Conversation about Cohousing, with change of date and venue due to COVID impacts.

We invite you to participate in this great opportunity for anyone interested in Cohousing to learn how we can create homes and community in ways that support our well being. Good housing is good health care.

Robin Allison is visiting from New Zealand on a book tour and will help lead the conversation with her story. Robin is the initiator and project coordinator of Earthsong, an award-winning, 32-home cohousing Eco-Neighbourhood in Ranui, Auckland, New Zealand. Click here for more details.

Earthsong demonstrates leading-edge sustainable design with intensive community involvement, and was a finalist in 2009 in both the World Habitat Awards and UN Habitat Awards. Robyn’s book Cohousing for Life — a practical and personal story of Earthsong Eco-Neighbourhood will be available to purchase.

This event is being hosted by the Housing Older Women (HOW) Movement which is led by older women with lived experience of housing insecurity and homelessness, and our supporters.

Our work is voluntary and we are not funded.

We ask that you assist with the costs of this event by making a minimum donation of $10 in cash at this event.

Your generosity will enable us to meet venue and other costs and any surplus will be used to continue our work to influence and broker new and innovative solutions to address the distressing and rapidly growing housing crisis, which disproportionally impacts older women.

In line with COVID precautions, we are unable to have shared food as is the custom at Cohousing gatherings.

Water, teas and fruit with peel (mandarins/ bananas) will be available, and you are welcome to bring your own snacks. If you wish, please bring your own cup.
