Event description

This no-cost, in-person workshop is part of the City of Whittlesea's Sustainable Communities Workshop Series for 2024

In this workshop, Lisa Conley, Environmental Educator for Sustainability at City of Whittlesea will lead a session grounded in the understanding of biophilia, or love of nature and living things. During the workshop attendees will do some nature sketching and meditation, observe nature outdoors, and will create a handicraft with found natural materials.

Attendees will leave the workshop with a handicraft and a nature observation guide they can complete on their own, or with others.

The group will discuss the nature/happiness connection and the role of observation as a starting point for becoming a conservationist or environmental steward.

  • Attendance will be capped at 20. A waitlist will be used for cancellations.
  • Children between 10-18 years old are welcomed to participate but must attend with a carer and be supervised at all times.
  • If it is raining or warm, we will still go outside, so please bring rain or sun gear if needed.
  • We will be walking down a ramp to access the park behind Riverside Community Centre, so please let me know if you have accessibility needs.
  • Snacks will be provided, but please bring a reusable water bottle and coffee cup.
  • Registration is mandatory.
