Research Creation Showcase 2023
Event description
We are delighted to welcome you to the annual Research Creation Showcase in this, the “Blue Mountains” version. With the support of the School of Humanities and Communication Arts, the Writing and Society Research Centre, the Institute for Culture and Society, the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre, and the Blue Mountains City Council we are again proud to feature the creative works of Western Sydney University’s dynamic makers and storytellers.
This year’s Showcase is located in our “piece of blue heaven” – the Blue Mountains, on unceded Darug and Gundungurra land, and specifically in the creative hub of Katoomba, the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre.
Our theme is, People, Place Planet and our focus is on the future of the creative arts and industries in the Blue Mountains.
Special guests include Gundungurra elder and custodian, David King, Mayor Mark Greenhill and Ms Veechi Stuart, Director of Varuna.
The creative arts inspire us and move us towards new ways of knowing the world.
They provide pathways for social change and self-transformation at a critical time for our nation and planet. Through the creative practice of staff and students and special guest presentations, the Research Creation Showcase is one such experience that celebrates the sense of the special place that is the Blue Mountains.
