Research for Creative Writers
Event description
Wednesday, February 12 at 9:00am-10:30am Pacific Time
Research isn't just for nonfiction writers. It’s a powerful tool for all genres, from historical fiction to speculative fiction and even memoir. It can include everything from the slang and clothing of a particular era, ways to murder someone without detection, or predictions on how technology may evolve in the future.Â
Join Andrea Karin Nelson, developmental editor and founder of Allegory Editing, to learn how to effectively use research to strengthen your writing and spark your creativity. We’ll discuss when to dig in, where to look, and how to avoid getting sucked into a research rabbit hole. Participants will walk away understanding how to use research to strengthen their world building, improve their plot, create accurate dialogue and action, and get unstuck from writer’s block.
