Event description

Surgical anaesthesia was first used in the mid-1800s. Antibiotics were discovered in 1928. The Human Genome Project, which mapped all of our genes, was completed in 2003. Now, we’re amid our latest medical revolution: artificial intelligence.

AI can improve healthcare with advancements such as more accurate diagnoses, precision medicine, and accelerated vaccine development––but as algorithms increasingly shape human care, who’s guarding the line between innovation and ethics?

University of Adelaide researchers are working to define and implement ‘ethical AI’ in the health field. By addressing the gaps in responsive AI governance, clinical decision-making, and consumer perspectives, our researchers are promoting effectiveness, safety, and equity in care. They’re fighting to prioritise patient wellbeing without hindering technological progress.

Join us to learn how AI and ethical healthcare practices align.
