Resilience & Wellbeing for Writers Workshop
Description
The exciting workshop by Mary Pearson will focus on wellbeing and resilience for the writer throughout the book creation journey, including:
What does it mean to be a resilient writer?
Prioritising your wellbeing when writing, publishing and promoting.
Examples of popular authors and their resilience and/or self care.
Mary’s experience as a published author.
Challenges faced and strategies to overcome them.
Includes: tips, tricks, writing activities and reflection activities.
Mary is a qualified Mental Health Social Worker. She is a passionate and skilled social worker with almost a decade of experience in the field, including: domestic abuse, trauma, grief and loss, suicide prevention, self-harm, healthy relationships, addiction and general mental health. She has maintained a high standard of social work practice in roles at not-for-profit and government organisations, as well as private practice.
In 2024, Mary published her book Weighed Down: Unlearning the Lies Sold to Us About Our Bodies. In 2023 she was a Finalist in the QLD Young Achiever of the Year – Connecting Communities Award. In 2021 she published her children’s book Shoby Raptor and the Heavy Coat.
The workshop will be held in the Meeting Room at Aitkenvale Library. The meeting room entrance is at the righthand side of the library or it can be accessed through the library..
