Event description

Sustainable Communities and Moving Around in Them

Do you long for the sort of community connection you had as a child? Are you interested in increasing resilience in your neighbourhood? This workshop is for you.

Sustainability is about more than power and waste reduction, water saving and gardening – it’s also about community. During this inspiring workshop Shani from Ecoburbia will discuss different ways to get involved in your community – from joining community groups to a more engaged and resilient street community. Case studies from Ecoburbia will include the small community of Hulbert Street and the larger “West Beacy Bunch”. We will also share some more sustainable ways of getting around in your community – we’ll even bring along an electric bike for you to try!

By the time you leave you will have some great tips for feeling more connected to your neighbours.

Supported by City of South Perth, sustainability educators Shani Graham and Tim Darby will deliver over this autumn and winter series of community sustainability education workshops with a focus on water and energy conservation, household waste reduction, smart travelling, food production at home, biodiversity enhancement and other sustainability aspects.
