Resourcing LGBTIQ+ Movements for Change in Asia and the Pacific: A funder convening in advance of the Sydney World Pride Human Rights Conference

Global Philanthropy Project, in partnership with Aurora and GiveOut, is hosting the first-ever convening on LGBTIQ+ funding in Australia, Asia and the Pacific in advance of the Sydney WorldPride Human Rights Conference. 

Resourcing LGBTIQ+ Movements for Change in Asia and the Pacific  will bring together leading LGBTIQ+ foundations and donor governments focused on Asia and Pacific, with the Australian philanthropic community. The unique two day program will feature LGBTIQ+ funding and civil society experts from Australia, Asia and the Pacific and will focus on developing strategies, sharing insights and inventing new ways to work together and respond to crises and opportunities across the Asia and Pacific regions.

The cost to attend the meeting is $300 AUD and registration closes 10th, February 2023.**

The meeting will include separate tracks on LGBTIQ+ funding in Asia and the Pacific, and in Australia, as well as plenary sessions highlighting common issues and practices.

Themes for the Asia and the Pacific programming will include: 

• Negotiating philanthropic assistance in Closing and Closed Spaces
• The role of LGBTIQ+ movements in political struggles for gender equality, human rights and democracy in Asia and the Pacific
• Engaging with non-traditional donors and enhancing domestic LGBTIQ+ philanthropy in Asia and the Pacific
• Resourcing campaigns to address the criminalization of sexuality and gender identities across both regions. 

Themes for the Australia programming will include:

• The landscape of LGBTIQ+ rights in Australia 
• The state of Australia’s LGBTIQ+ community sector 
• Strategies for increasing the role of Australian philanthropy

The conference is ONLY for public and private grantmakers, donor governments, corporate funders, and high net wealth individual donors and their advisors.
