Responsive Possibilities: A Weekend Inquiry into Yoga Practices with Stephanie Nelson

Ashtanga yoga is a practical movement and breathing system that nurtures the body and mind. The quiet space that is created on the mat encourages self-reflection as well as toning and invigorating the body every day. The Mysore-style room is a unique situation for this exploration; the teacher and students meet in individualised ways to share concerns, needs, and experience regarding this practice. All responding moment to moment in shared consciousness as the time on the mat unfolds and new possibilities are presented. It is my hope that this workshop will enhance your yoga experience by inspiring new insights, providing support, and cultivating open discussion.

Saturday May 13th
8-1030am Quiet Time and Mysore – 30 min of breathwork and meditation followed by Mysore-style ashtanga yoga practice.

12-2pm Key Poses of Primary and Intermediate Series – In this session technical instruction, relevant modifications, and some hands-on adjustments of postures from both sequences will be covered. The idea is to expand horizons so that practitioners have a bit more to digest and introduce sensible approaches to help with new challenges.

Sunday May 14th
8-1030am Quiet time and Mysore – 30 min of breathwork and meditation followed by Mysore-style ashtanga yoga practice.

12-2pm Chanting, Philosophy, and a little bit of Yin – Chanting and Yoga philosophy help to bring yoga out into the world by encouraging inquiry and reflection on thoughts and behaviours. Yin yoga serves to complement the physical rigor of the ashtanga practice by relaxing the body in different poses and observing how the body responds to the breath in these positions over relatively long time periods. In this way, Yin yoga provides an accessible gateway into seated meditative practices.

These sessions are open to all levels of practitioners. Pricing per session is $45 or all 4 for $170 at early bird rate until May 1st. Standard rates after May 1st are $55 per session or all 4 for $210.
