Event description

As the hours of sun compresses in height, the outside air thins and sharpens, the vast possibility of external adventure is condensed to prediction, there is a great turning.

The incoming cloud of darkness, turns us. Turns us toward ourselves. Turns us to the places close to the layer of skin that are now begging for our warmth.

The patiently waited and neatly stacked wood, grins in readiness. The beanies stuffed in the back drawer brush off their dusts of eagerness to accept your full-of-stuff head. The fluffier socks will again, generously receive your becoming fluffier body with no judgement.

Everything is preparing. The deep night is welcoming you.

How do you welcome it?

How do you welcome yourself to a slower rhythm? To the pace of citrus distinguishing themselves from the leaves. To the greening of grass. Once thirsty, now drinking. Quenched. To the meals that are gently cooked all day, gradually developing their richness.

If the resistance tugs you to a continued pace that strikes through your body like midday sun, this could be the place for you to acknowledge that desire and approach it with soft fascination. Letting it open you to a newer possibility of embracing the night.

Gather your insulting materials, your favourite treats and together we will come to meet the coolness of rest on skin.

Weaving elements of Terra Soma Yoga (land embodied), Restorative Yoga and Yoga Nidra (yogic sleep) we will cocoon, den, womb ourselves to slow.

You will need...

A space to move, lay down and stand up.

Pillows / blankets / Yoga mat or substitute.

Something to write on and with (or drawing materials if you prefer).

A recording will be sent out to all attendees and available for 90 days.

For now I will leave you with the words of David Whyte...

Sweet Darkness

When your eyes are tired
the world is tired also.

When your vision has gone,
no part of the world can find you.

Time to go into the dark
where the night has eyes
to recognize its own.

There you can be sure
you are not beyond love.

The dark will be your home
tonight.

The night will give you a horizon
further than you can see.

You must learn one thing.
The world was made to be free in.

Give up all the other worlds
except the one to which you belong.

Sometimes it takes darkness and the sweet
confinement of your aloneness
to learn

anything or anyone
that does not bring you alive

is too small for you.
