Have You Tried Learning Guitar Before?

Maybe you’ve watched YouTube videos, learned a few chords, tried an app or even had lessons before.

But you’re still not sure what to practice, how to practice or what you should be working on next.

Or perhaps your guitar has simply been sitting there waiting for you to start again.

For many adults, enthusiasm isn’t the problem.

What’s often missing is structure, clear guidance, accountability and people to share the experience with.

That’s exactly what Restart Guitar is designed to provide.

A Clear Path Forward

Instead of jumping from one random lesson or YouTube video to another, we’ll work through a simple, practical approach to learning guitar.

Each week you’ll understand:

What we’re working on
Why it matters
How to practice it
How it connects to making music

You don’t need to practice for hours every day.

The aim is to develop a realistic practice habit and start seeing progress from the time you do have.

What You’ll Work On

Over five weeks, we’ll explore the foundations that make playing guitar easier and more enjoyable.

🎸 Playing chords more comfortably/faster

🎵 Changing between chords more smoothly

🥁 Improving rhythm, timing and groove

👂 Developing your musical ear and appreciation

🎶 Understanding basic music theory and how rhythm, melody and harmony work together

🧭 Knowing what to practice when you pick up your guitar

Most importantly, we’ll focus on actually making music, rather than simply collecting exercises.

Small Group. Learn Together.

This isn’t a lecture. You’ll be playing guitar.

Keeping the group small means I can work with everyone individually, answer questions and help you understand what you’re learning.

But there’s another important advantage.

You’re not doing it alone.

You’ll be learning alongside other adults who are starting or restarting their musical journey.

You’ll share challenges, hear each other improve and have a reason to pick up your guitar between sessions.

For many adults, having somewhere to turn up each week — and a friendly group to return to — makes all the difference.

Cut Through the YouTube Overload

There’s more free guitar information available than ever before.

The problem is knowing what you actually need right now.

One video tells you to practise scales. Another says learn songs. Another gives you 20 chord exercises.

Before long, you’ve collected plenty of information but still don’t have a clear direction.

Restart Guitar gives you a practical learning structure and a teacher you can actually ask questions.

If something doesn’t make sense, we’ll work through it together.

Restart Guitar is designed for adults who:

Have always wanted to learn guitar but never really started
Know a few chords but feel stuck
Used to play and want to get back into it
Have tried learning online but need more structure
Have had lessons before but didn’t feel they were progressing
Find it difficult to maintain a regular practice routine
Would enjoy learning alongside other people

You don’t need to be “musical.”

You don’t need to understand music theory.

And you definitely don’t need to be good at guitar before you arrive.

About Your Teacher

I’m Nick J Harvey, a guitarist, musician, producer and guitar teacher with decades of playing and recording experience.

Restart Guitar Academy grew out of something I’ve seen repeatedly:

Adult guitarists often don’t need more information. They need clear explanations, a practical path forward and someone who listens to what they’re struggling with.

My teaching approach focuses on three connected areas of musicianship:

Rhythm. Melody. Harmony.

Rather than treating them as separate subjects, we’ll start connecting them so you can understand what you’re playing and, importantly, make it sound musical.

You Don’t Need Hours to Practise

One of the biggest barriers adults face is time.

Work, family and life get in the way. That’s normal.

You don’t need to practice guitar for hours every day to improve.

We’ll look at ways of making the time you do have more focused and productive.

Even a short daily practice session can be valuable when you know what you’re trying to achieve.

Your 5-Week Restart

Over five weeks you’ll have:

✓ Five practical, weekly guitar sessions

✓ A clear focus for your practice

✓ Individual guidance within a small group

✓ Help when something isn’t working

✓ Other adults learning alongside you

✓ A reason to keep picking up your guitar

✓ A musical foundation you can continue building on

And if you’re enjoying the experience, there may be opportunities to continue developing your playing through future Restart Guitar courses.

Sometimes the hardest part of learning guitar isn’t learning another chord.

It’s keeping going.

A little structure, accountability, good guidance and a group to learn with can make a huge difference.

Ready to Restart?

If you’ve been saying “I really should start playing guitar again” this is your opportunity.

Bring your guitar, meet some other people who want to play, and let’s get started.
