Description

RestLab Suffolk Park – The Art of Slowing Down

Free event. Bookings appreciated.

~~~
Part workshop, part experiment, RestLab is a space to rest, dream and create together.
Guided by local creatives Karenza Ebejer and Ruth Rosenhek, participants are invited to slow down, connect with nature and explore what rest can look like in contemporary life. Through a mindful bushwalk incorporating nature photography, deep ecology and creative writing, the day offers an opportunity to pause, pay attention and connect with place.
The day will finish with a short restorative yoga session, creating space to unwind and integrate this nature-based reset.
RestLab emphasises slow art-making, curiosity and connection. Participants will be invited to gather ideas, observations and reflections from the day, which can contribute to a collective Dream Banner for the final FORT REST exhibition at Grafton Regional Gallery, running from 10 October–29 November 2026.
This is a supported and accessible event. An access support assistant is available to help tailor the experience for people with different abilities and sensitivities. If you have specific access requirements, please let us know when booking.
Places are limited, so bookings are appreciated.
The Art of Slowing Down is a community-engaged creative research project led by Paul Walker. It invites members of the Northern Rivers community to explore the social and individual choreographies of rest through multidisciplinary arts experiences called ‘RestLabs’.
The Art of Slowing Down / FORT REST is co-produced by SeedArts Australia and developed with the support of Critical Path. The project is proudly funded by the NSW Government through Create NSW.
We acknowledge the Arakwal People of the Bundjalung Nation and pay respect to Elders past and present. We honour the ongoing connection of First Nations people to Country, culture and community.
