    Event description

Join the EMRC and the City of Perth supported by the Circular Textile Working Group and WMRC for an exclusive Restyling event with Nina Gbor, the founder of Ecostyle and clothes swap expert featured on War on Waste 2023! This event is made possible by Meshpoints, an initiative supported by Lotterywest and Spacecubed, which exists to build a stronger culture of entrepreneurship and innovation in WA!

    About the Facilitator:

As the founder of Eco Styles, Nina Gbor is a sustainable fashion educator, eco stylist, international speaker and clothes swap host of over 13 years. Nina works with media, councils, schools and community groups across Australia to create a more holistic sustainable fashion future. She was a featured guest on season 3 of ABC TV's War On Waste. She is also the Director of Circular Economy & Waste Program at The Australia Institute.

    About the Restyling Workshop:

This sustainable fashion and circular styling masterclass will show you simple tips and hacks to curate a stylish wardrobe that's tailored to your individual lifestyle and personality, regardless of your age or size!

First, we'll have a quick run through of what's needed for a holistic textile's circular economy and sustainable fashion future. Then the workshop will kick off with an exciting restyling show with a model demonstrating how to restyle one garment in at least 6 different ways, for 6 very different types of occasions. Why? So, you can reduce fashion waste and be your most stylish self at the same time, all the time! You’ll then have the chance to practice being your own ‘restylist’ using items from your wardrobe to restyle several looks for different occasions in ways that work for you. Don’t worry, you’ll have plenty of help and support from Nina Gbor and other co-restylists! It’ll be fun and very Insta – TikTok worthy.

    What to Bring:

Bring about 10 - 15 items of clothing such as tops, dresses, shirts, pants, jeans, jackets and accessories such as shoes, bags, scarves, belts, etc. (These are your personal items for this session only and not the swap so you will take them back home with you). Also have enough storage space on your phone for photos because there will be lots of style inspiration to document for future reference!
