Rethink Food Waste: Composting Workshop and Farm Raiser Tour

Turn your food scraps and garden waste into nutrient-rich compost. This practical workshop will cover the basics of home composting, troubleshooting common issues, and tips for creating healthy compost that benefits your garden and reduces waste.

Maria from My Green Garden will dig into the world of composting systems - from compost bins to worm farms to bokashi buckets and beyond - so you can find the perfect fit for your home and garden, whether you have lots or little space.

This year, you’ll also get a hands on demonstration of how to set up a worm farm.

The session this year will finish up with a guided tour of the neighbouring urban farm, Farm Raiser. Since 2020, Farm Raiser has been dedicated to growing nourishing produce for our local community in Bellfield, while stewarding the land with care. They are a not-for-profit Urban Farm committed to making high-quality food accessible and providing education and vocational pathways for students with disabilities. Farm Raiser will also be hosting a bake sale on the day if you would like some tasty treats.

Tea and coffee will be provided by the Waste Education Team.
