"An evening with 2022 Australian of the year Shanna Whan"

    Date: Monday, 11th November
    Time: 6:00pm
Location: Calrossy Anglican School, William Cowper Campus 242 Moore Creek Road.

    Event Description:

Join us for a FREE fun, educational, and conversational evening designed exclusively for parents and caregivers of high school-aged children as we welcome Shanna Whan, the 2022 Australian of the Year (Local Hero).

Shanna is the CEO, creator, and founder of Sober in the Country (SITC), a nationally respected grassroots bush charity that's changing and saving lives as well as creating powerful generational culture shifts through friendly but powerful messaging that it's always #OK2SAYNO (to alcohol.)

During this session, Shanna will touch briefly on her story as a rural boarding school student and the subsequent years that would ultimately shape her life and lead her to become a national spokesperson and advocate for change in rural Australia.

Like SITC, this event is not "anti-alcohol" but about truth, education, and awareness of how we can better support each other and our mates, whether we choose to drink or not.

The evening will equip parents and students with practical ways we can all be a critical part of the ripple effect of Sober in the Country and help continue to shape a better rural culture in which everyone is included, welcomed, and catered for—and where the health and mental health of our mates are more important than the drink of choice in hand.

Shanna's keynote will include a Q&A session for parents and students to engage.

Don't miss the chance to be part of this culture shift across our rural space.
