THE RETREAT

Do you live to work, or work to live?

Beyond our jobs at work, beyond our responsibilities at home - do we have the time for ourselves to exist, not just simply, but happily and peacefully?

Sarah Shea’s newest yoga retreat, Harmonious Body, aims to reawaken ALL of what makes you whole. Engage deeper with the side of you that may be neglected during your daily routine, the pieces of your identity that may be sidelined by ambitions or obligations.

Satisfy a longing for adventure by taking the plunge into this 5 day, 4 night journey in the Caribbean. Whether you share a room or enjoy private accommodation, you will connect with a variety of souls all searching for the perfect pause to their everyday lives. Be inspired by the perfect blue waters you will have access to daily, as Villa Serena, your lodging, has private beach access and all ocean-view rooms. Each participant will get to take a day trip to the beautiful Playa Rincón, a nearly 3-mile white sand beach with turquoise water, and anyone is welcome to book a taxi for themselves to explore other nearby sites. The itinerary laid out for you is a blend of structure and free time. Therefore, you can customize your retreat experience to ensure each part of you finds satisfaction.

THE YOGA

Yoga and meditation sessions will occur twice per day and can be modified to fit all levels. Find fluidity in your movement with Vinyasa. Rediscover the power within yourself during Hatha. Go deeper into the mind and body with Yin. Awaken the subconscious with Yoga Nidra. Whether you have taken a class in each one of these styles or have never taken a yoga class, these sessions are designed to make everyone feel safe and welcome while helping you open up to new experiences.

WHY 'HARMONIOUS BODY'?

People are more than their jobs, their families, and their circumstances - we might know this intellectually, but it can be harder to remember in practice. Even if you turned your passion into your career, you can still lose what made it your passion in the first place. And while we can love our family and our friends, it can happen quite frequently that their needs usurp our own.

During this retreat, Sarah wants to let you tap in to what you may have forgotten about yourself. Perhaps the inner child needs to reawaken to remind you of what pure joy and belly laughs feel like. It could be that your creative side has been dormant for years, but you never stopped yearning to create something new. Whatever pieces of you that have been locked away in pursuit of financial gain, familial solidarity, or societal acceptance need to be awakened. This awakening can bring your body (i.e. the physical, emotional, energetic, intuitive, and blissful parts of you all together) into harmony once more.

Whether you purchase a room that is shared or a room all to yourself, everybody will get to enjoy the following:

5 Days and 4 Nights at Hotel Villa Serena
All meals (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) at the hotel
Transportation from Airport to Villa Serena
All yoga and meditative sessions (held in the gorgeous outdoor shala by the beach)
All day excursion to Playa Rincón

Any snorkeling gear and other water rentals (and you can bring the snorkel gear off site)

Airfare
Extra meals outside of the hotel (during excursions, the restaurant can provide packaged meals that WILL be included in your price if you would like)
Transportation from hotel to airport at the end of the retreat

YOUR HOST

Sarah Shea has been practicing yoga for 6 years and teaching for 5. As a 500-Hour Certified Yoga Teacher, she enjoys introducing people to the healing tenets of yoga. This will be her first overseas retreat, and she is extremely excited to share this with you! Read more about her in her profile below.

FLIGHT INFORMATION & OTHER SUGGESTIONS

There will be two airport options to choose from, Samana Airport (AZS) and Santo Domingo Airport (SDQ). Although AZS is closer to the hotel, we ask that you please choose SDQ to fly into. This ensures we all arrive at the same place, and we can then take the provided transportation together.

Please have your plane arrive EARLIER than 3PM. That is the time transportation will leave from the airport.
The drive from SDQ to Villa Serena will take about 3 hours. We recommend buying snacks at the airport or making sure to bring enough in an easily accessible part of your back for the commute.
Dinner will still be served that evening around 7PM.

ITINERARY (subject to change)

July 16: Arrive at SDQ airport and be transferred to Hotel Villa Serena. There will be plenty of time to settle in. Dinner will be held at 7PM and we will have a brief opening ceremony by the ocean.
July 17: Optional pranayama before sunrise at 5:30AM. Morning class is Hatha Yoga, workshop will be about the power of vibrations and music, and the evening class will be Yoga Nidra. In between, you will have time to enjoy the beach, the pool, and can even get a massage!
July 18: Optional pranayama before sunrise at 5:30AM. Morning class is Vinyasa. Our excursion to Playa Rincon will shortly follow breakfast. We will spend most of the day there and end with Yin Yoga. Dinner will be back at the hotel.
July 19: Optional pranayama before sunrise at 5:30AM. This is a "Choose Your Own Adventure" day! You'll have the option to go ziplining, horseback riding to waterfalls, hiking, and more. If you don't want to add on, then you are more than welcome to continue relaxing at the beautiful hotel. Yoga will still bookend the day, and we will also have a closing ceremony before bedtime.
July 20: As long as it does not interfere with your flight, please join me some sunrise yoga and meditation by the ocean. Breakfast will be offered, and then you will be on your way! Thank you for the memories!
