    This course provides participants with a detailed overview of the South Australian Scheme including how premiums are calculated, how new claims are assessed, and liability is determined. Key factors to be discussed, include: 

    • aggravation
    • acceleration
    • exacerbation
    • deterioration or re-occurrence of a prior injury. 

    There will be a focus on recovery and return to work and the obligations under the Act, specifically looking at S25(10) change of return to work goals review, re-employment incentive schemes for employers (RISE) and employer training incentives (ETI). 

    Section 48 of the Act will be reviewed in relation to reduction or discontinuance of weekly payments. Dispute resolution and the South Australian Employment Tribunal will also be discussed, as will sections 56 and 58 of the Act which refer to lump sum payments. 

    LEARNING OUTCOMES

    By the end of this training, participants will have an understanding of:

    • how best to lodge a claim and manage a successful recovery and return to work 
    • what it takes to determine a claim, the importance of offering suitable duties and being supportive during the process
    • both the worker's and employer's obligations under the Act including section 18
    • what benefits an employer can received under the RISE incentive program and ETI program
    • how a lawful discontinuance can be made
    • what occurs during the dispute process
    • what happens in the South Australian Employment Tribunal.

    RECOMMENDED FOR

    This in person course is recommended for those who possess an in-depth knowledge of the South Australian Return to Work Scheme or for those who have completed the EMlearning Workers Compensation Course South Australia.

    ABOUT THE TRAINER

    Monique Sutton-Spinelli, Key Account Manager, EML

        Monique has worked at EML for 12 years and has had exposure across a wide range of fields in the workers compensation industry. 

        Monique has a Certificate IV in Human Resources Management and will be able to provide practical training on the return to work scheme in South Australia.
