Returning to the Wild Woman (4) An Art Therapy Journey Through Women Who Run With the Wolves
Description
Returning to the Wild Woman
An Art Therapy Journey Inspired by Women Who Run With the Wolves
Our relationships can be places of deep connection, belonging and love.
But they can also be places where we lose touch with ourselves.
Returning to the Wild Woman is an invitation to turn inward and explore the parts of ourselves that can become quiet when we are navigating relationships, expectations and the needs of others.
Inspired by Clarissa Pinkola Estés’ Women Who Run With the Wolves, each workshop explores a different story and the wisdom it holds for us.
Each workshop is a standalone experience and an individual journey. You don't need to have attended a previous workshop. You simply come as you are, with your own story, your own relationships and your own experience.
Through guided visualisation, creative expression, reflection and connection, you are invited to explore what the story awakens within you and discover what your own inner world may be trying to tell you.
This Workshop: The Mate
Union with the Other — Hymn for the Wild Man: Manawee
As we deepen our relationship with ourselves, we are also invited to explore how we remain true to who we are while being in relationship with others.
The story of Manawee explores the balance between intimacy and individuality - the ability to connect deeply with another while remaining rooted in ourselves.
Relationships can ask us to compromise, adapt and grow.
But where do we draw the line between healthy connection and losing ourselves?
This workshop offers an opportunity to reflect on the relationships in your life and your own way of connecting with others.
You may explore:
How do I show up in my relationships?
Where do I lose myself in order to maintain connection?
What does a healthy relationship feel like for me?
Where might I need stronger boundaries?
How can I honour both closeness and individuality?
What does authentic connection look like for me?
Your Expression, Your Journey
Following the guided visualisation, you will be invited into a Relationship Mandala art therapy process.
Beginning with yourself at the centre, you will explore the relationships that surround you - family, friends, partners, community and the wider connections that shape your life.
Rather than creating a perfect or prescribed mandala, this is an opportunity for your own expression to emerge.
You will choose the creative materials that feel right for you and allow colour, shape, pattern, space and symbol to become a way of exploring your relationships.
You don't need to plan what your mandala will look like.
You don't need to create something beautiful.
Simply notice what emerges.
Perhaps you become aware of relationships that feel nourishing and supportive.
Perhaps you notice where there is imbalance, distance or a need for stronger boundaries.
Perhaps something unexpected reveals itself.
The artwork becomes a visual expression of your experience of connection, individuality, boundaries, belonging and reciprocity.
There is no right interpretation.
Your artwork belongs entirely to you.
It is an opportunity to listen inwardly and discover what your relationships may be showing you.
Connection in Community
While this is an individual journey, you will be held within a supportive circle of women.
After the creative process, there will be space for personal reflection and an opportunity to share what you choose.
To be witnessed.
To listen.
To connect.
To recognise the common threads within our experiences while honouring the uniqueness of every woman's story.
Sometimes, being witnessed by another woman can remind us that we are not alone in what we carry.
An Invitation to Explore Connection
Manawee reminds us that true union is not about abandoning ourselves to belong.
It is about remaining rooted in who we are while opening ourselves to others.
An invitation to explore the relationships that shape you.
To honour your needs and boundaries.
To nurture authentic connection.
And to discover what it means to be deeply connected to another without losing connection with yourself.
Returning to the Wild Woman
