Returning to the Wild Woman (6) An Art Therapy Journey Through Women Who Run With the Wolves
Description
Returning to the Wild Woman
An Art Therapy Journey Inspired by Women Who Run With the Wolves
There is a deep human need to belong.
To feel seen.
To feel accepted.
To know that we don't have to become someone else in order to be welcomed.
Returning to the Wild Woman is an invitation to turn inward and reconnect with the parts of yourself that may have become quiet beneath the expectations, roles and experiences of life.
Inspired by Clarissa Pinkola Estés’ Women Who Run With the Wolves, each workshop explores a different story and the wisdom it holds for us.
Each workshop is a standalone experience and an individual journey. You don't need to have attended a previous workshop. You simply come as you are, with your own story, your own experience and whatever is present for you in this moment.
Through guided visualisation, creative expression, reflection and connection, you are invited to explore what the story awakens within you and listen to what your own inner world may be trying to tell you.
This Workshop: Finding One's Pack
Belonging as a Blessing — The Ugly Duckling
The story of The Ugly Duckling speaks to something many of us have experienced — the feeling of being different, of not quite fitting in, or of wondering where we truly belong.
Sometimes the pain doesn't come from being different.
It comes from trying to fit ourselves into places, relationships or expectations that ask us to become something we are not.
The Ugly Duckling reminds us that there is nothing wrong with our nature.
Sometimes we simply haven't yet found our place.
This workshop offers an opportunity to explore what belonging means to you — not as an invitation to change yourself to fit in, but to recognise and honour who you already are.
You may be invited to reflect on:
Who am I beneath the roles and expectations I carry?
What matters most to me?
What qualities and strengths do I bring to the world?
What does belonging feel like for me?
Where can I be fully myself?
Who are the people and communities with whom I feel truly seen?
What kind of spaces do I want to create and seek in my life?
Your Expression, Your Journey
Following the guided visualisation, you will be invited into a creative process that allows your own expression to emerge.
You will choose the creative materials that feel right for you and allow your response to the story and your own inner experience to unfold through image.
There is no prescribed way for your artwork to look.
You don't need to know what you are going to create before you begin.
Simply listen.
Notice what comes forward.
Allow your hands to respond.
Your creative expression may explore who you are, what you value, where you belong, the people who form your pack, or the woman you are becoming.
Perhaps something from your past wants to be honoured.
Perhaps something about your present wants to be acknowledged.
Perhaps you find yourself imagining the kind of belonging you want to create for your future.
There is no right interpretation.
Your artwork belongs entirely to you.
It is your expression.
Your experience.
Your journey.
Connection in Community
While the creative journey is deeply personal, you will be held within a supportive circle of women.
There will be space to reflect and an opportunity to share what you choose.
To be witnessed.
To listen.
To connect.
To experience the possibility of belonging without having to perform, explain or change who you are.
Together, we can recognise the different ways we have searched for belonging and celebrate the courage it takes to show up authentically.
An Invitation to Find Your Pack
The Ugly Duckling reminds us that we do not have to change who we are in order to belong.
Sometimes, we simply need to find the places where our true nature is welcomed.
Where we can soften.
Where we can be seen.
Where we can be ourselves.
This is an invitation to honour your uniqueness.
To recognise the qualities and gifts you bring.
To explore what belonging means to you.
And to remember that belonging begins with being at home within yourself.
