Second Nature AGM: 🌿 Revegetation revisited: assessing ecological and social responses to landscape restoration in the CLLMM region 🌿

Over a decade ago, one of the most significant revegetation projects in Australia was undertaken in the Coorong, Lower Lakes and Murray Mouth (CLLMM) region. Now, through the CLLMM Research Centre, there is a rare opportunity to revisit these sites and discover how the landscape has responded.

Following brief AGM formalities, we will welcome Dr Nick Whiterod to present on this new and exciting project.

Nick will share details on the project, which will assess ecosystem responses across 76 revegetation sites. The study will bring together surveys of vegetation, birds, soil biodiversity and social aspects, offering a unique window into the long-term impacts of large-scale restoration.

This is an exceptional chance to hear about a project of regional and national significance - shedding light on the benefits, challenges, and lessons learned from more than ten years of environmental recovery.

Nick is an ecologist with over 20 years’ experience conserving freshwater species and ecosystems across Australia, leading reintroduction projects, contributing to national species listings, and advancing conservation in regions such as the Mt Lofty Ranges and Coorong. He is a 2018 Churchill Fellow and the 2023 Unsung Hero of South Australian Science.
