    Event description

Yiddish performance, whether in theatrical, spoken or music form, is alive and well in Melbourne. Our panel of practitioners and researchers discuss what such performances tell us about ourselves, our past and our identity.

    Speakers:

Louise Helfgott: award-winning writer with a PhD in Creative Writing from Edith Cowan University, known for her book Thistledown Seed, and her works like Potchnagoola and Light of her Eye, which have been recognised and staged in various prestigious platforms.

Alex Skovron: author of seven poetry collections, a prose novella, and a book of short stories, whose latest work is Letters from the Periphery. He has been recognised with the Patrick White Literary Award and has seen his work translated into several languages.

Eva Collins: Writer and photographer, known for her memoir Ask No Questions, shortlisted for the 2023 CBCA Book of the Year Awards, Prime Minister's Literary Awards, and Mary Gilmore Award. Her poetry has been published in notable journals and anthologies.

Her work appears in various journals and anthologies, winning numerous awards. She has authored several novels and poetry books, including Bobish, a verse-memoir of her great-grandmother Rebecca Lieberman.
