Learn about reverse engineering PCs, computer composition, and fixing computers as an educational experience. Jaco from TAP LAB will teaching this class for kids aged 10+
Introduction to PC Composition and the basics of reverse engineering
This one day will cover the following:
- Introduce the basic components of a PC: CPU, RAM, storage, motherboard, graphics card, power supply
- Provide participants with old, non-functional PCs (ensure safety precautions are in place).
- Guide them through the process of safely opening the case and identifying components.
- Explain the concept of reverse engineering in a simple manner.
- Share examples of how reverse engineering is used for learning and improving technology.
- Provide a functional PC and have participants identify various components.
- Discuss the importance of understanding hardware for troubleshooting and fixing.
- Introduce common PC issues like no power, slow performance, etc.
Who is this workshop designed for?
- This woodworking workshop is suitable for kids aged 10+ years. Participants must be able to listen and follow instructions carefully.
Please let us know if you child has any behavioural issues the tutor would need to know about. If your child is not good at listening or able to follow instructions carefully then discuss with us first. - What to bring? Do you have a broken PC or laptop device?
