The white paper builds on the outcomes of our inaugural 2023 summit which brought together international atmospheric carbon removal leaders from government, industry, tech, science and NGOs to help define the success criteria and pathways for building an Australian atmospheric carbon removal industry that durably lowers global greenhouse gas concentrations in addition to - not instead of - deep emission reductions.

Prof Christian Turney Pro Vice Chancellor Research University of Technology Sydney	Chris Turney is Pro-Vice Chancellor of Research at the University of Technology Sydney, Non Executive Director at the NSW EPA, and Non Executive Director at Circada Innovations and a founding advisor to the Climate Recovery Institute. Chris is also a founding Director and Scientific Advisor with CarbonScape, the first company to create technology for sustainable, high-quality biographite made from renewable materials. He has over 25 years experience in transdisciplinary research into the carbon cycle, focussing on reducing uncertainties over climate impacts and climate-carbon feedback. Chris is also a talented science communicator. His new podcast, “Unfking the Future” is taking listeners on a journey to understand common-sense climate solutions
Julian Turecek Co-Founder & CEO AspiraDAC	Julian is Co-Founder & CEO AspiraDAC - pioneering the world’s first modular, scalable and solar-powered Direct Air Capture technology, removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and storing it in permanent geological reserves, with its headquarters and manufacturing plant in Sydney. He is also Executive Director at abatement project developer and owner - Corporate Carbon, and has over 20 years prior experience in clean tech investment, energy operations, trading, policy and governance roles including with Evnova, Energy Australia, Origin and BHP.
Alana Hollestelle Climate Recovery Institute Director and Associate Director Common Capital	Alana is a co-founding Director of the Climate Recovery Institute and Associate Director of Common Capital, where she helps clients understand the sources of value and risk and develop strategies to capitalise on rapidly changing international climate regulatory, market and technology contexts. Alana was the lead author and project manager of a flagship carbon dioxide removal opportunity study for the NSW Government. She has advised clients across Australia, Europe and Asia in multiple industries including energy, agribusiness, financial services, automotive and health. She has previously worked at Deloitte, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, and Transport NSW.
Henry Adams Climate Recovery Institute Director and Director Common Capital	Henry is a co-founding Director of the Climate Recovery Institute and Co-founder and Director Common Capital, a policy and strategy consultancy specialising in catalytic funding mechanisms for the net zero transition. He has 18 years’ experience in the design, implementation and reform of market-based environment protection and climate mitigation policies. This includes leading a series of flagship carbon dioxide removal policy and economics projects for state and commonwealth agencies. He has previously worked in climate policy for the NSW Government as a Ministerial Advisor and as a Management Consultant at IBM in financial services and industrial products.
