The Office of the NSW Chief Scientist & Engineer

invites you to the Science & Research Breakfast Seminar Series

26 June 2025

Professor Andrew Dzurak, CEO and Founder | Diraq

presents

Revolutionising the future of Quantum Computing Technology

Quantum computing is a groundbreaking technology shift, with the potential to solve complex problems far beyond the capabilities of today's classical computers.

Professor Andrew Dzurak heads Sydney-based company Diraq, which bases its technology on silicon, the material that comprises of over a quarter of the Earth’s crust. Diraq is a world leader in developing quantum processors that use silicon 'quantum dot' technology.

Importantly, Diraq’s technology leverages the same silicon manufacturing processes that produce chips in our laptops and phones, with advanced manufacturing of silicon spin wafers in semiconductor foundries, enabling a faster, more cost-effective pathway to market for its quantum technology.

Diraq aims to scale qubits on a single chip to the many millions, and eventually billions. This will enable practical and powerful commercial applications, positioning Diraq as a key player in the future of quantum computing.

About the Speaker

CEO and Founder of Diraq, Professor Andrew Dzurak

Professor Andrew Dzurak

Professor Andrew Dzurak, CEO and Founder of Diraq, is a global leader in nanoelectronics and quantum computing technologies.

Over his career, Andrew has played a pivotal role in fostering enduring scientific and strategic collaborations between the United States and Australia and has raised over US$142M in venture capital and research funding. This funding has supported the research work carried out by Diraq’s founding team over the last 25 years to develop the current IP portfolio of 60 patents across 11 patent families.

Diraq was a recipient of the NSW Government’s Quantum Computing Commercialisation Fund in 2023.

Since Diraq’s establishment in May 2022, Andrew and his team of over 60 staff and students have made significant technical breakthroughs in demonstrating the realisation of scalable quantum computing based on spins in silicon.
