ReWear Ballina Workshop: Slow Stitching for repairs and upcycling
Event description
Join Ballina Shire Council and Sue for a 3 hour hands-on workshop, introducing you to the mindful, meditative and resourceful practise of slow stitching.
You will explore Indian Kantha, Japanese Boro and traditional European embroidery stitches as a way to create original pieces to use to repair tears, cover stains or simply transform an old boring garment to something new and unique.
Bring any preloved fabrics and threads that you would like to use. Sue will also have a supply of natural dyed fabrics and threads to use if needed. Sue will supply needles, pins and a calico base for you to work onto.
You'll leave with the confidence to apply some of these techniques at home!
