Event description

Join us for a hands-on youth workshop with Robz Jones in the XZW Woodyard Workshop, where creativity meets sustainability.
Using the principles of 𝐑e𝐭h𝐢n𝐤, R𝐞d𝐮c𝐞, 𝐑e𝐮s𝐞, 𝐑e𝐩u𝐫p𝐨s𝐞, R𝐞p𝐚i𝐫, participants will transform ordinary household items into functional active speakers.
Robz has been making noise (literally) for over 30 years, with a deep commitment to DIY culture and waste minimisation. He’s lived in Whāingaroa for 13 years with his son Matai, and together they’ve built nine unique dwellings from wood, earth, and salvaged materials. Robz brings both expertise and passion to every project - and this one’s sure to spark inspiration.
Whether you're into music, electronics, or just love making things, this is a great chance to learn new skills and rethink what we throw away.
Spaces are limited and registration is essential. Tickets are $30 +booking fee
This workshop has been designed for ages 14-24 years.
This workshop is brought to the community by Waikato District Council, Xtreme Zero Waste, and Whāingaroa Environment Centre as part of their community-based initiatives: the Repair Café and the Tool Library.
