REWRITING THE CLIMATE NARRATIVE: Storytelling & Responsible Media for Action
Event description
ABOUT THE EVENT
Storytelling is vital for communicating ideas effectively and simplifying intricate information while inspiring awareness and action. Creative professionals are constantly telling stories, from designers to architects to communicators. They envision new scenarios and actors. They give voice to causes and communities.
When it comes to climate change, there are plenty of climate narratives—some paralysing, some misleading, some transformative. Our discussion panel will explore how we can craft narratives that drive action without oversimplifying complexity or greenwashing. How can storytelling help us burst the bubble of our polarised and post-truth era? Are stories powerful enough to change behaviour, drive cooperation, and support climate mitigation, adaptation and resilience?
Ana Luiza's work decodes harmful stories hindering change, like greenwashing, tech optimism and doom & gloom. At the same time, Paolo Bovio explores how narratives can inspire action, foster community engagement, and drive equitable and sustainable transition.
