Price $95 AUD + BF Get Tickets

Event description

Georgia Sessions of Women's Wisdom is proud to collaborate with the incredible Rhea Dempsey (counsellor, birth attendant, childbirth educator, author and wise woman) to bring an exclusive one day workshop to Shepparton. I wish to invite midwives, student midwives, doulas, birth workers, and parent's or parent's to be, to come and soak up all of Rhea's wisdom and insight from her extensive experience of 'being with' birthing women.

Throughout the morning Rhea will be sharing her wisdom on pain and its relationship to physiological birth, expanding on the distinction between physiological vs. pathological vs. psychological pain, cultural mindset and the seduction of the epidural, the magic dance of oxytocin and endorphins, crisis of confidence and the birthing woman's attitude to pain, the couples "relationship dynamics" and pain, midwives pain paradigm, and midwives "working with pain" skills.

In the afternoon Rhea will be delving into the very important and often misunderstood topic of birth trauma. Rhea will be touching on factors contributing to birth trauma, disturbed birth physiology, structural issues and unnecessary interventions, expectations of care and a 'wounding' birth culture, the impact of the Mother's story and couple relationship dynamics, and lastly, practitioner burn out.

Rhea's two books Birth with Confidence and Beyond the Birth Plan will be available to purchase on the day.

Morning tea and lunch will be provided by Belcibo&Co on the day.

**IMPORTANT**

Ticket sales will end on WEDNESDAY MAY 23RD 2024, as numbers need to be confirmed with the venue.
