rhetoric of sound
Description
At its crux, language determines a lot of how we process ideas, emotions, and values and beliefs. Different cultural understandings of these concepts expose the many ways these ideas can be perceived. It often changes whether they are embedded in identity, personified or simply projected on an individual for merely a period of time. Music is a medium that allows us to experience and think about these things more deeply, and often in its own language mimics these ideas. It covers the spectrum of clear dialectical conversation to multidimensional intertwined thought processes. Through this concert program, we unpacks how music exposes these constrictions and invites audiences to contemplate the power of these rhetorical boundaries.
